The dev made a post on Patreon* about a month ago, saying that he had been helping the Companion of Darkness dev, and giving sometime in June as an estimated release date for the next update.
(*Good chance to remind devs how disrespectful it is to only do updates on Patreon/Discord and not on your game pages, it takes you less than fives minutes to copy-paste and post the thing.)
I mean on that same line of thinking, it also takes less than a minute to join the spaces dedicated for updates if you're that concerned about it. Basically two clicks. Weird take to call it disrespectful if you can't put that much effort into looking for information imo
The dev (one person) making the small effort once, or every player interested in his game having to go dig for updates, one after another? I think it's easy to agree on who should be required to make the effort in these cases, the one whose effort makes the information instantly available to everyone else. Why should players have to join dedicated Discords to get updates? One could even argue funelling people towards Patreon by only giving updates there while abandoning the game page is a dishonest way to go about increasing revenue.

Any idea when part 2 will actually be released? Been 6 months since the update about script being finished
